Buddy Media and Vitrue Acquired for More than $1.1 Billion in Less than a Week
More exciting news in the Social Media Enterprise Software space today! Salesforce has acquired Buddy Media for more than $800 million just one week after Oracle purchased Vitrue for $300 million. By no means are these trivial or small acquisitions. Of course, these companies have real revenue streams (unlike the Instagram buyout that we saw a couple months ago), but it’s also a testament to the growth that we are seeing in social media from a B2B perspective.
This is just the tip of the iceberg as brands realize the potential of new media versus traditional media. We see lots of opportunities for different players in the ecosystem and as a social media agency we have a unique vantage point to identify underserved segments. Between publishing tools, measuring tools, monitoring tools, app creation tools, contact management tools, and ad optimization there are a lot of breaks in social media marketing landscape. We have started to build our own tools out of pure necessity and continue to look for the strongest software offerings to give our clients a competitive advantage. I’m very confident we’ll see many more acquisitions like this in the coming years.
It’s a thrilling time to be in the social media marketing space!
